HOUSTON (February 27, 2018) – More than two million people and 30,000 animals are expected at this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ (Show), and behind the scenes Cat^® Lift Trucks will provide the equipment and expertise, including more than 150 forklifts, to keep the Show running for three-weeks straight.

This year marks the 14^th consecutive year for Cat Lift Trucks and local dealer Darr Equipment Company (Darr Equipment) to serve as the Official Lift Truck Provider for the Show. Together, Cat Lift Trucks and Darr Equipment provide a broad range of internal combustion pneumatic tire lift trucks, ranging in capacities from 3,000 to 26,500 lbs. The lift trucks are used inside and around the 1.9 million square feet of NRG stadium to prepare for this annual Texas tradition.

In addition to assisting with the setup and teardown of the 21-day event, Cat lift trucks are also used to haul oversized portable buildings, such as trash dumpsters, port-o-lets and ticket booths around the 300-acre complex.  Each day, the lift trucks not only transport hundreds of pounds of animal feed and hay for the assorted livestock, but also work hard to ensure that food, beverages and ice are ready to be served to rodeo fans all day long over the three-week period.

Darr Equipment’s technicians will also be on-hand throughout the show to provide lift truck operator training and on-site support throughout the Rodeo season.

The Cat Lift Trucks Scholarship Program, now in its 14^th year, will award a $5,000 scholarship to an exemplary Houston-area high school student pursuing higher education. The winner will be announced on the Cat Lift Trucks Facebook page on Wednesday, February 28 and recognized in the Cat Lift Trucks sponsor suite at the Rodeo on Thursday, March 1.
