New EKX 514/516K/516 Series Features Low Energy Consumption,
Ability To Operate Two Shifts On Single Battery Charge

HOUSTON (March 15, 2016) – Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc., the provider of Jungheinrich® lift trucks and narrow aisle products in the United States, Canada and Mexico, today introduced the new 3,000 – 3,500 lb. capacity Jungheinrich EKX 514/516K/516 man-up turret trucks to its North American product line.
The new turret trucks feature lift heights up to 689 inches and can efficiently run up to two shifts on a single battery charge, eliminating the need for extra batteries and manpower requirements.
“This new Jungheinrich EKX series of turret trucks is equipped with state-of-the-art control technology, advanced AC motor technology and an efficient energy management system,” said Chad Munger, product line manager at MCFA. “Utilizing energy reclamation, this turret truck series efficiently operates up to two shifts on a single battery charge for an up to 25% increase in productivity.”
Unique benefits of the EKX 514/516k/516 man-up turret trucks include:
- High Energy Efficiency – The motor provides exceptional efficiency in forklift operations. The new motor technology converts around 93 percent of the energy consumed into actual output, cutting energy losses by half, resulting in an up to 15 percent reduction in energy consumption compared to the previous generation.
- Advanced AC Motor Technology – A synchronous reluctance motor, which has been used for the first time in the material handling industry, combines the high performance and energy efficiency of two motors with the cost advantages and low maintenance requirements of three-phase AC motors – resulting in increased uptime.
- Intelligent Systems – When operating the EKX man-up turret trucks with the optional Jungheinrich Warehouse Navigation System, very narrow aisle warehouse customers can achieve an up to 25% increase in throughput efficiency for added productivity. The system is also designed for flexibility, allowing it to be configured based on individual business’ needs in addition to accommodating future warehouse expansions.
- Productivity-Enhancing Options – Customers can choose from a range of optional performance packages to customize the EKX man-up turret truck to the application. The new Floor Pro option provides hydraulic vibration dampening which provides a smoother ride for the operator. The Sideshift Plus option helps facilitate load handling and saves time, while allowing the EKX to work effectively in very narrow aisles.
New Jungheinrich products are supported by a one-year / 2,000-hour warranty that includes parts and labor, as well as components and systems, and a two-year / 4,000-hour extended Powertrain warranty. All Jungheinrich products are also backed by the Parts Fast or Parts Free Guarantee that ensures next-business-day-delivery by 5 p.m. of Jungheinrich parts, or the parts are free, including freight, in the United States.
